Elision was filmed in the Cenotes of the Mayan Riviera, places that were traditionally used by the indigenous for sacred burials, but later by the colonizers as mass graves. By magnifying our confrontation with historical spaces and the aftermath of violent migrations, the current pandemic is set within a historical framework and honors all who have died without proper grieving. Breath becomes a metaphor for life in this empty, unfamiliar tomb for grieving.
